Following the buzz created by Genetic Counselling Awareness Week, the popular CTV news morning show Canada AM requested an interview from the CAGC to talk more about breaking down myths about genetics and genetic counselling in Canada. Our very own Allison Hazell, co-chair of this year’s planning committee, stepped in as CAGC’s media rep and provided the live in-studio, in person interview in Toronto.
In case you missed it, here is the link to view the November 28th interview: http://watch.ctv.ca/news/top-picks/genetic-testing/
Congratulations to all who put on events (and funny videos!) last week during the second annual Genetic Counselling Awareness Week. More to come from the organizers on this year’s winners!

The next deadline for applications for the CAGC Small Project Grant is January 17th, 2011. The Small Project Grant provides funding support to one or more genetic counsellors for a project that will forward the field of genetic counselling as a profession and/or positively influence the provision of genetic counselling services. Applications are reviewed by a committee composed of CAGC members and are awarded based on merit and strength, a broad appeal to the CAGC membership and demonstration of feasibility of completion within a two-year timeframe.
